Obtaining Crash Data

Dear FDOT Consultants working in D7: New requirements from FDOT........

Secretary Kopelousos has signed a Directive regarding the Release of Crash Data. The Directive has been published.

The Directive has been written in accordance with federal law. It is the policy of the Florida Department of Transportation not to make crash data available to any member of the public. Exceptions to this policy are requests from members of the media and requests from governmental entities.

Based on the discussion in the statewide safety meeting in Tampa this week, the only way FDOT Districts can release FDOT crash data to engineering consultants is by request from FDOT project managers for the FM projects engineering consultants are working on.

Sincerely,

Peter Hsu, P.E.
District Safety Programs Engineer
Florida Department of Transportation

Asphalt Survey Request

There is no need to fill out the Asphalt Survey Request form for future projects contrary to what Terry Puckett told us.  Mary Sheets keeps an updated log of priority projects which she sends to the bituminous engineers periodically.  If it is an emergency project, Mary has instructed us to contact her with the request and she will contact Conrad and Marlene directly.  ALL requests must go through Mary.

LBR (Limerock Bearing Ratio)

Great news the District One and Seven District Materials Geotechnical Web site now has Historical Design LBR's on their web page. These are LBR's that have been taken for both District One and Seven. This is just a guide line to see what the LBR's in the area are.

This does not eliminate the need for LBR sampling/determination on a project by project basis, but can be useful for approximation.
