New In-house Printing Standards

Below is a recent email from Matt Kovach regarding the updated Printer Standards:

Some of you may have already heard the news… the printer/plotter names have changed, and just when you have finally memorized which one is which. Well, don't worry too much about it because we have a document that will help you through this new familiarization period. I have attached a Microsoft Word Document (MicroStation and InterPlot Printing Resource Guide.doc) that will explain a few things about the use of these new printers/plotters. What things, you ask? Well, here are few details that have been included:

  • Previous Printer Name → New Printer Name
  • Location
  • Description of Utilization (i.e. what to use and when)
  • Paper Sizes
  • MicroStation and InterPlot Printing Resources (i.e. Plot Drivers, Pen Tables, etc.)

The last page of this document is a “cheat sheet” which should help you the most with regards to familiarizing yourselves with these new printers/plotters. Please feel free to print it out and post it on your wall. It may come in handy.

How do I get access to these new printers/Plotters?

The Login Scripts have been revised to automatically connect you to the printers closest to your surroundings. However, should you need to “connect” to a printer that is not currently “connected” to your computer, please use the following steps:

  • Click Start → Run from the Windows Taskbar
  • Type \\tpaps03 in the Open: combo-box of the Run dialog box.
  • Click OK
  • Select the desired printer(s)
  • Right-click and choose Connect...

Note: not all of the printers have been renamed or recreated yet. So, if you see a printer/plotter listed in this document but not on the Print Server, please contact Technology Operations.

Note: The printers/plotters will be removed from the TPAPS02 Print Server early next week. Therefore, please discontinue the use of these printers/plotters as quickly as possible.

Well, if you have any questions regarding these printers/plotters, please contact either Craig Pratt of our Technology Operations Group or me at your convenience.
